Divinely CVS

My mission is to write about the Divine in the Daily, and the Divine is precisely what I encounter most every time I visit my local CVS. You read that right: CVS, home of the “Super Pharmacist.”

Before a recent out-of-state trip, I forgot to fill a prescription I needed. It’s a special order, and my local CVS didn’t have it in stock. After many calls, I finally found a pharmacy that had it. I transferred the prescription there, drove twenty minutes to pick it up, and made my evening flight without a problem.

Fast-forward to the Fourth of July. I called my local CVS to transfer the prescription back. Despite it being a holiday, Super Pharmacist answered the phone. Not a clerk. The pharmacist. The same guy I see almost every time I go there. (I swear, I think he lives in the CVS attic.)

What makes him a Super Pharmacist? This is the same person who stopped what he was doing and took the time to tell me about GoodRx, saving me a few dollars on a prescription not covered by my insurance. He even helped me find the app and waited for me to download it so I could use the discount immediately— even though I'm sure he had fifty thousand other people to assist.

It’s not just me.

I always see him kindly and patiently advising people at the counter.

It’s his face.

He never looks annoyed and never rushes anyone.

So weird.

How does he do that?

My flawed face screams everything my flawed brain thinks, so is he just NEVER annoyed? Strange.

Is he an anomaly?

A freak of nature at the local CVS?

I’ve repeatedly pondered those exact questions when observing him at work. Service isn’t what it used to be, but I don’t think service was EVER as good as what Super Pharmacist provides.

Back to the morning (July 4th) of my call. The following transpired:

Super Pharmacist: The prescription was transferred to Walgreens, not another CVS.

Me: Oh, you’re right. I’m sorry. (Seconds earlier I had insisted I'd transferred to another CVS.)

Super Pharmacist: No worries. I’ll give them a call. The prescription is still a special order, so it’ll take a day or so to get it in. Will that work?

Me: That’s perfect. Thanks so much.

Super Pharmacist: No problem. Have a great day.

It was the Fourth of July. He was working, and I was off, giving him erroneous information and sending him on a wild goose chase for a prescription transferred to God only remembers where, but he was patient and kind. As usual.

Some people are just exceptional, and Super Pharmacist is one of THOSE PEOPLE.

Many may think it's ridiculous for me to label this situation as Divine, but I disagree. I live each day watching for and expecting God’s Presence, and you know what? I usually find It—or, more correctly, It finds me.

 God is so very good.

So, thank you, Super Pharmacist George, for kindly and patiently being of service. Wow. Just WOW!
