(Un)Real Estate?

I view my social media outlets as my personal real estate. Essentially, my front yard — adjacent.

Before posting, I ask myself ONE (long) question:

If today were my last day on earth, what would I want my sons (future grandchildren/great-grandchildren) and loved ones to read and (possibly) re-read while they are in the extremely difficult early stages of grief OR maybe years later when I come to (their) minds, and they revisit my social media to remember “WHO” I was.

I don’t want them to read about what I endured but HOW I endured it. I don’t want them to read about what or who angered me, but WHAT or WHO gave me peace and joy. Unfortunately, this perspective wasn’t always my choice, but I do better now that I know better. (It’s never too late to become who we were always meant to be.)

So, does my decision to share only the “good news” make my social media outlets my “(un)real estate?” Nope. I believe we owe it to our loved ones AND worldwide “neighbors” not to lower their property values by throwing “garbage” into our virtual front yards. Being compassionate and competent caretakers of our real estate, adjacent or otherwise, is the very LEAST we can do.
